Frequently Asked Questions

About Asguard

Is Asguard a medical device? No. Asguard is a companion and reminder service. It does not diagnose anything and it does not give medical advice. For medical concerns, always speak to a GP or healthcare professional.

Does Asguard monitor my relative's blood pressure or blood sugar? No. Asguard notes down readings your relative chooses to share, and relays them to you against a range you have set yourself. It does not take the reading, and it does not judge whether a reading is safe or unsafe. If a shared reading is outside your chosen range, Asguard lets you know so you can follow up. Readings are for your reference and should be reviewed with a healthcare professional.

Can Asguard call an ambulance? No. If your loved one is in danger, call 999 immediately. Asguard notices language that may signal distress, signposts support, and alerts you straight away, but it cannot contact emergency services directly.

Who makes Asguard? Asguard is made by Fleur Lamont Ltd, a UK company. You can reach us at hello@asguard.app.

The Companion

Will the companion remember everything my loved one tells it? The companion builds a picture over time — learning names, preferences, key facts, and stories. It is not a verbatim transcript service, but it does remember meaningful things and uses them to make future conversations more personal.

Can I change the companion's name? Yes. Go to your dashboard, open the subject's profile, and choose Companion Settings. You can set any name you like.

What if the companion says something that feels wrong or inappropriate? Please email hello@asguard.app with the rough date and time, and describe what happened. We take this seriously and investigate every report.

Can my loved one talk to the companion about anything? Mostly yes — the companion is designed to be a warm, open conversational partner. It can chat, help with recipes, explain letters and bills, assist with shopping lists, and more. It will gently redirect conversations that require professional help (medical, legal, financial) rather than attempting to advise.

Privacy and Conversations

Can I read my loved one's conversations? No, not in full. The design is intentional — your loved one's private conversations are their own. As a caregiver, you see:

You do not see a message-by-message transcript.

What if my loved one says something that worries me? The companion notices language that may signal distress. When it does, it responds with warmth, signposts support by giving the relevant crisis helpline number, and sends you an alert immediately.

Who can see my loved one's data? Only you (the caregiver) and, where necessary, authorised Asguard staff for the purposes of support and safety. We do not sell data or share it with third parties. See our privacy policy for full details.

Medications

What if my loved one doesn't respond to a reminder? If there is no response after 60 minutes, you receive an alert. Asguard cannot confirm whether the medication was actually taken — only whether your loved one replied.

Can I pause reminders while my loved one is in hospital? Yes. Your loved one can type /away to pause the companion, or you can disable individual medications from the dashboard.

What if a medication name or time is wrong? Go to your dashboard → Medications and edit it. Changes take effect immediately.

Telegram

Why does Asguard use Telegram? Telegram is free, works on all smartphones, and is already used by millions of people. It lets us deliver a reliable messaging experience without requiring a separate app to be installed, making it much easier for elderly users to get started.

What if my loved one doesn't have Telegram? You will need to help them install it. It is free, available on iPhone and Android, and only takes a few minutes to set up. We have included setup tips in the Caregiver Guide.

My loved one has blocked the bot by accident — what do I do? In Telegram, go to the Asguard bot, tap the three dots in the top right corner, and select Unblock. If you are unsure how to do this, email hello@asguard.app and we will walk you through it.

For Your Loved One

What if my mum doesn't want to use it one day? The companion is never pushy. Your loved one can say they want some quiet and the companion will respect that. They can also type /stop to pause it entirely.

What if she finds it confusing? We have designed the companion to be as simple as possible — just send a message, just like texting. If there is something specific that is confusing, please let us know so we can improve it.

Is there a printed guide I can leave with her? Yes — the Introduction for Your Loved One page is designed to be printed. Use your browser's print function (or Ctrl+P / Cmd+P) and it will format cleanly on one or two A4 pages.
